Tēnā koe!

Ko Tommi tōku ingoa. I am a second-year radio student here at the New Zealand Broadcasting School.

I am one of three Promotions and Integrations team members and a part of the Digital team for Waves 96.1. I am proficient in using Microsoft Office and Google Suite. I have also been upskilling my ability in the Adobe Suite.

Last year, I worked with the MediaWorks Canterbury team as a casual promotion’s assistant and since July 2019, I've also had the opportunity to do an Internship and Gateway placement with MediaWorks Taupō. This role has enabled me to record clients’ voiceovers, segue the Saturday Morning Breakfast show, write and voice crosses, local news and community notices and has been an excellent opportunity to get out and about in the local communities for on-site activations, promotions and client giveaways.

My love for radio led me to team up with a fellow student to launch a student radio station at Tauhara College in 2020, where we hosted the daily breakfast show from 8 am to 9 am. We were an entertaining and informative way to start students' mornings. The following year, we fundraised over $6,500, enabling us to upgrade equipment and cover operating costs. I am still involved with the station, mentoring students and overseeing the operations.

I am an active member of the Tūrangi Volunteer Fire Brigade. Since 2021, I have attended over 180+ emergency incidents. I’m responsible for managing the brigade’s social media platforms and designed a mini fold-out fire truck, which ended up in activity packs for children at Starship HospitalLast year I created and organised a calendar fundraiser for the fire brigade, raising just over $2,000.

Through the fire brigade, I had the opportunity to become the Marketing Manager for the Tūrangi Christmas in the Park. I created content for the social media platforms, updated marketing material, and liaised with local radio stations for advertising.

I have a full driver's licence with no driving convictions.
