My name is Dylan O’Connor, but you can call me a valuable member of your company.
New Zealand has a rich media History. David Tua famously requesting O for awesome, Thingee’s Eye falling out mid Broadcast, Gareth Lischner painfully trying to get an answer for “What day is Father’s day?” and I can’t wait to leave my mark.
Having worked in the Automotive Industry for 10 years, I woke up one day and asked myself “How can I utilise the fact I have a soul?” and having dabbled in community radio in Australia for a few years on RadioMetro in the Gold Coast, I decided to lick the stamp and send myself to one of the best decisions I’ve made, Study Radio at the NZBS.
Keeping very busy in my 2nd year by specialising in Voice and being a part of the Waves 96.1 Driveshow, a member of the programming team, part of the ‘Rise & Grind’ on RDU’s mornings, have a late night DJ residency on RDU’s Friday Nights which had led various opportunities to perform at clubs and work with promotors in Christchurch and work with NZME as part of their Promos Crew. How does he find the time you ask? Well with his watch of course.
Being a story teller at heart and a trained people pleaser has helped me find a passion for working with On-Air content and being a self proclaimed music guru has made being a programmer and building a station from scratch a dream come true. Looking forward to getting on the tools with you.
