With winter quickly approaching, those cozy nights in bed are becoming more of a reality than a distant fantasy. When making your bed the coziest it can, there may be a couple things you have missed.

It's all in the toppings

A mattress topper made of foam or feathers adds comfort and support to your bed; plus makes you feel like you're on a cloud. The topper adds new life to your mattress, so you don't have to buy a new one.

Know your sheets

For maximum coziness, try flannelette sheets! These will feel soft against your skin and add to the look of your bed. There are so many sheets on offer, so to narrow it down, don't choose sheets based solely on their thread count. Many factors can affect thread counts; you're better off deciding from a touch test.

Pillows, Pillows, Pillows

An essential part of a comfy bed but tricky when it comes to buying because of how many there are. No, seriously, hundreds of different pillows, from fluffy to firm. Let me narrow it down for you. If you sleep on your side, choose a firm pillow; if you sleep on your back, choose a medium pillow; if you sleep on your stomach, choose a soft pillow.

Throw on some throws

Snuggling up in a comfy blanket is all part of a cozy bed experience, especially when binging your favourite show. Choose a chunky knit, flannelette or sherpa for some top-tier snuggling.

Roll out the rug

A rug may not be on your bed, but it is all part of the experience. Nothing's worse than waking up from a cozy bed and stepping onto a cold floor. Even if you've already got carpeting or a large area rug, consider adding a small sheepskin or textured rug on the side of your bed where you usually get out. No more cold feet!

Now you're ready for a truly dreamy sleep.
